The Room on the Roof by Ruskin Bond

 This book by the great Mr. Ruskin Bond is surely a classic. Its about a boy called rusty who runs out of his house and tries to escape from his guardian, who many times handles Rusty physically. It captures as to how Rusty, discovers India and himself and his youth, all at the same time. it has a sequel too, called vagrants in the valley, which is, according to me, not that great at all. This book was written by Mr. Bond when he was 15, this proves his skills as a teenager. Its quite thin too, 115 pages or so. 

Go for it if you are looking for something thin, entertaining and a story without a single aim. 

Beware! Don't read its sequel called vagrants in the valley, its quite a drag.
